no way, ive spent so many months practicing blast beats that i forgot how much i love this type of flow. didn't realise this is what polyrhythms were. 👌🧨🧠🤯i shall be doing them more! but with abit more confidence now lol. 😆🤘

Practice tip:

Given the nebulous displacement/odd but subtle points within any given beat while performing simultaneous dupal and triple meters, when it comes to the "feel" of playing a (R Hand) 3/2 (L Hand) polyrhythm - you can overcome the "pat your head and run your tummy" coordination issues by using the following overall conceptual sequence:

1. First and foremost: focus on having your right hand locked in to the 3's/triplets you play to the point where you don't have to subdivide/actively think about them at a slower, but comfortable and steady tempo. As an exercise: set your meteonome to 6 or 12/8 time and if possible, add an accent to all of the 4 down beats - you should aim for smooth/identical strokes and not let yourself mimic the metronome's accent pattern, playing with your right hand and your right hand ONLY.

2.) Once the right hand is locked in, start incorporating the left hand - with your focus to attempt to play either a (I'd write out the pattern here, but the standard electronic keyboard included on my phone has a surprising lack of musical notation available with its emoji/image options 😊 - so I hope instead referencing the) the '1--ah--and' accent pattern (conveys the point), and/or a quarter note triplet, using your left hand - BUT (and this is the important part) - while using the same 12/8 metronome settings, perform the left hand part to the quarter note pulse being kept.

Using this as the technique not only unlocked my ability to perform the polyrhythm, it double as a way to unlock two different feel "approaches" to how the part can be performed based on the expression you are individually trying to play, or within the overal performance of a song within a band environment.

Playing a more precise/crisp '1--ah--and' directs the dynamic toward a more common/straight time ("ON" the beat) feel, while emphasizing the subtle difference between dupal and triple meter by leaning toward the quarter note triplet feel (this is where the realms of playing "AHEAD of the beat" and "BEHIND the beat" - shuffles, swing, and funk oh my! - lay)... will lead you to the absolute mayhem of acheiving a true ONEANDTWOANDTHREEANDFOURAND and/or ONEANDTWOONEANDTWOANDONEANDTWOANDONEANDTWO, etc... performance with your left hand while playing a 3/2 polyrhythm.

I mean... At least, that's about as accurately as I can describe (and, at least, as concisely)/summarize what was occurring in my brain in the time period best described as "all the moments my brain has been actively aware of what a polyrhythm was/the concept of a 3/2 polyrhythm was understood/trying and failing to apply the concept/having someone actually voice the 1--ah--and/quarter note triplet approaches described above/what it felt like in body and mind/the snapshot of me in that moment I performed the part correctly and how your entire being both feels like any and all tension has been removed and because everything, including you just feels RIGHT... you have experienced and created this action you did not previously know existed AT ALL/and frome there on out, experiencing THAT FEELING each and every single moment of my real time experience when performing within a 3/2 polyrhythm pocket of feel"... So...

😂 My jazz band instructor explained the 3 over 4 by having me chant, "Pass the god damn butter" and then playing that on my snare.

Lease common denominator 3 over 4 is 12. 5 over 7 is 35. The length In which you get to resolve the phase is longer or shorter.
