this method has always been great for helping me conceptualize polyrhythms but it doesn’t really help me figure them out, since i find it impossible to count both ways in my head simultaneously!

Something isn't clicking and I wish I could message you to figure it out. I can't do it in a short comment but I'll try: in this case is Eight the basis for the underlying rhythm? Like maybe a pop song in 8/8, and the polyrhythm is the Nine? Is every single beat you count here the same as a beat in the song, or are these subdivisions of some kind?
