Wow an actual well-written SNL skit with a clear beginning, middle and ending and character from real life. I feel like everybody knew a Bedelia in high school. She was that nerdy girl who had an old soul, wore her granny clothes, would only relate to older people, sounded too mature for her age, made good grades and probably sat at the lunch table reading fantasy novels. The kind of girl that everybody thought was weird but they never bothered her because she got along with everybody.

Is it weird that I relate? Not to the extreme but I was almost never embarrassed of my parents, especially my mom. Granted she's very likable and pretty so there's that but sometimes when she'd chaperone things and I was in groups with people I didn't like I'd cling to her a little.
I understand if you have parents who really are bad and/or always try to embarrass you but I never found it appealing to be disrespectful about your guardians in public to look cool.
