The veil over her eyes could also indicate her metaphorical blindness to the corruption of the Healing Church

Vicar Amelia is so unbelievably tragic. Even during her fight, her constant dodging, evasion and erratic movements are a dead giveaway that she's terrified. She doesn't want to fight you, she's fighting for her life, and all she can do against a hunter of beasts is pray for salvation. It's incredibly sad.

Prey slaughtered.

My favorite element of her design is her... pose, I guess is the word. The way she clutches some kind of keepsake against her chest the entire time she is "fighting" you is such a great detail. Her flailing attack feels like a desperate attempt to keep you away from whatever she is holding.

Something I took note of was how YOUNG she’s presented, despite being head of the church. These two combine, and lead me to believe when Laurence died, the ‘scientists’ studying the old blood immediately took full power, and now Vicar is more of a ceremonial title, thrust onto the most gullible person in the room at the time. Lies beget lies, and the shifting of blame becomes commonplace.

One thing that always struck me about her is how her eyes are covered by the veil she wore. SHE IS LUTERALLY BLINDED BY HER FAITH! (This also goes into bloodborne's themes of eyes and insight)

I remember watching my friend play this boss fight and thinking "this thing is going to give me nightmares for weeks, but I can't look away."

Another interesting thing to note is that after you trigger her cutscene and die/quit out, if you go to her fog wall and stand there, you can listen to her praying in some sort of distorted groans and screams, adding a new layer to comprehending them since they seem to still have a slither of their human consciousness in that state. That aspect is even more highlighted with the suspicious beggar/abhorrent beast, where he says: "Hunters are killers, nothing less! You call me a beast? A beast?! What would you know, i didn't ask for this!"

If I had a nickel for every time that a Healing Church member that's been transformed into a huge monster attacked me in this room I'd have two nickels, which isn't a lot but it's weird that it's happened twice.

I love how the introduction suggests that players had even the slightest clue of what was going on at this point in the game.

I love that the game implies that poor Vicar Amelia's Faith is pure and noble, even if it was misguided.

Of all Beasts, she is THE only one with healing powers. And she prays to activate them.

Really makes you wonder what sort of creature she'd become, if she hadn't been snuffed out so quickly post transformation. Ironically the Healing Church migh have been closer then they EVER realized in producing a proper Saint.

Of note; if she kicks your ass after she transforms, when you return she'll be praying again (but with beast noises).

she looks like her dad was pressed for time to finish his alchemical experiments.

The sound of her howls and roars sound so agonizing and guttural. Like she's begging to be put out of her misery.

If you look closer, that "bride's veil" is just the dress she was wearing pre-transformation.

I always found it interesting that she becomes a beast instead of kin. She's the head of the healing church, so you'd think she'd be on that alien paleblood/insight/whatever causes ascension like the others in upper cathedral, but instead she's a beast in the lower ward. Yharnamh clearly has a class strata with the healing church at the top, so why would the head of the church be left to transform into a beast like everyone else?

I also noticed that the collar around her neck as a human is dangling from the wattle-like appendage on the left side of her wolven forms face.
I think the wolfs head is not amelias, and that amelias true head is dangling from it, no longer in control of her faculties and motor functions.
