Ottawa residents, police brace for convoy protests on Canada Day

Concerns are rising in Ottawa ahead of Canada Day celebrations, over plans of another anti-government convoy protest that could once again disrupt the nation's capital.

Mayor Jim Watson and interim police chief Steve Bell say security plans have been drawn up to allow for safe celebrations on Friday despite the threat of protests.

"I want to assure everyone that the RCMP, Ottawa police, police de Gatineau and the Parliamentary Protective Service are fully prepared to respond to any situation," Watson said at a news conference Monday.

So last Canada Day when people torn down statues and committed crimes and spread hatred for Canada, there were no police enforcing the law and no one held accountable for their illegal actions. Now the authorities can't tolerant people partying and playing hockey in the streets.
