Показать описание
Endoscopy (also called a gastroscopy) is a medical procedure that allows a doctor to observe the inside of the body without performing major surgery. An endoscope (fibrescope) is a long flexible tube with a lens at one end and a video camera at the other.
.
Why would you need an endoscopy?
Endoscopies are a minimally invasive procedure and are typically recommended to find the cause of digestive issues and symptoms, and in some cases to treat problems including: Chronic heartburn or acid reflux. Screen for colorectal cancer or cancers of the digestive tract. Biopsy suspicious growths or tissue.
.
What is an endoscopy used to diagnose?
Doctors use upper GI endoscopy to help diagnose and treat symptoms and conditions that affect the esophagus, stomach, and upper intestine or duodenum including gastroesophageal reflux disease, ulcers and inflammatory conditions like celiac disease
.
How long does endoscopy take?
Many people fall asleep. An upper endoscopy usually takes 20 to 30 minutes to complete. When the procedure is over, the doctor will gently remove the endoscope. Then you will go to a recovery room. #upperGI #endoscope #gastroenterología

I needed this 😭 I’m getting one next month, and have been getting a bunch of videos on my fyp about people waking up from anesthetic and feeling pain! This reassures me it’s not so bad

I'm actually intrigued at this, there's so much insight gained by this, from vocal care to internal medicine.

No gag because they spray numbing med in throat. I am a RN of 40 years service. Now as a patient I can truly say. A doctor should have to have every procedure done on themselves before doing a patient.. within reason. Of course they can't have major surgery. In process of having my inner ear injected with meds weekly. Doc said th8s will not be comfortable. I wanted to scream then beat the crap out of him for not being truthful. ! Had a young doc who treated old people. He ordered enemas till clear on every person he admitted to my unit. Dang near killed a few. Then he was admitted on my unit with belly pain . Asked his doc to start with the same enemas. Fulirst we took away all his clothes so he could not escape then I gave him enemas till I swear I cleaned out his sinuses in his head. We has a little talk afterwards. He never ordered the enemas again unless it was proven to be needed. He assumed all elderly people were impacted due to age. !

I experienced that. You breathe through your nose. The only painful part was the process of entering the throat. Eventually, it felt fine. But you can feel the apparatus moving in your stomach.

Werner Forssmann was another doctor who tested procedures on himself - when he worked with a team on cardiac catheterisation (used for sending pacemaker wires in the heart, stents etc.)
