I just bought one and it saves you a lot of time and not having to worry about carrying a can of butane. Specially here in vegas that in summer can get to 120F

I wish Makita would make one. The problem with that big form factor is you can't really hold it like a pencil for delicate work.

It gets up to temperature fast, decent life on a 2ah, BUT its too bulky for precision work at SMD component level, still that's not the intended market, for connecting wires etc, its perfect.
In the UK its difficult to get tips, just remember folks, tin your iron, NEVER sandpaper the tip, it has a thin chrome plating.

DeWalt... WHY haven't you debuted a Cordless Soldering Iron?!?

This is a great tool but you need to get the flat bottom 6ah battery for it and see the difference that makes...Ive had mine a year and use it every day as I’m an auto spark and it’s the best cordless iron I’ve ever used
cheers guys...👍

Thanks for the review. I'm going to buy tomorrow. Sorry for this... $89.00 U.S. battery not included.

I’m reading quite a few reviews about the plastic collar melting. You’ve obviously used yours quite a bit. Wonder why theirs does and yours doesn’t?

This is an awesome tool unfortunately mine quit working after 1 hour of being on, I was using with a 4.0 battery

There is a 3.0 amp in that size and then there is a 6.0 amp in the XC size...

you've lost the plating on the tip of your gas iron, bud. she is too old, bin that tip.
also, resist the urge to butter on the solder. bad technique.
