One Piece co-showrunner Matt Owens and newly announced Season 2 stars Joe Manganiello (Mr. 0) and Lera Abova (Miss All-Sunday) preview what to expect from Baroque Works' most dangerous duo. The One Piece Season 2 casting was announced as part of Netflix's Geeked Week 2024 event.

Joe mentioning Croco-boy's defeat at the hands of Whitebeard is just what I needed to hear. This dude clearly knows the story and the character he's been given.

Seeing Manganiello talking about Crocodile's defeat setting him on his path and how Luffy could very easily turn into Crocodile, almost like a One Bad Day situation, tells me that he _understands_ Crocodile. And Abova talking about the need for family tells me she _understands_ Robin. This is what tells me it's perfect casting.

Edit: Even if it's a PR event and likely a fed line, Manganiello has enough nerd cred to either know One Piece or have read part of it and Abova has clearly been on set where everyone loves the story. We've seen the other main cast members start reading the story if they didn't already know the story. So I chose to believe that, even if it's a fed line, it's based in truth and they do know at least the relevant part of the story.

I'm sold on both of them in less than 5 minutes. Lera's subtle accent adds a certain mystique to Robin that I didn't think was possible.

Every adaption needs to have a creator like this. A fan. If corporate keeps grabbing books, manga, video games, and other forms of media without having any passion for it the audience will see the tv show or movie is not worth watching.

Lera getting hate only for being russian, says many thing about the ppl from x (twt). This situation is like the real Nico Robin was living her life in OPU (one piece universe), just getting hate for living and for the "sins" of her country (Ohara).

I saw the hatred against Lera in twitter and I'm shocked how people think about her. No way these people are a fan of One Piece. I wasn't sure if she was a good casting at first but now I will definitely support her and root for her.

Of course Robin’s actress is going to talk about the bond between the characters. Actors have to get into the mindset of the characters and one of Robin’s character most integral traits is her love and bond with the crew.❤
