Had a 1984 John Deere 160 with a 12.5 Kawasaki motor. Gave it to a neighbour about 5 years ago and he is still running it.
39 years old and not babied. Standard transmission. Just bought a 2023 x 350 with 48 inch deck for 3 acre lot.

X350 owner here... only complaint is the tension spring on the transmission belt poorly engineered popped off all the time took it back to John Deere under warranty just to get it repaired but after warranty I just took a piece of wire and tied the spring down to the handle on the spindles and so long as that wire stays intact I don't have to worry about the transmission belt falling off.

I own an X350 and I love it. I got the snowblower, plow, and other stuff for it as well.

I have the S130 and I love it. I have approximately 1 acre and use the mower on average about two times a week between mowing the lawn and hauling stuff around with the extra pull cart & it gets the job done effortlessly! I do have a small hill which is pretty steep and it tackles that beautifully! With that said if I had a lot more land and used it more frequently I think I would go with the X series due to it being beefier and being able to take a little bit more abuse.

Just ordered an x350 with a 48 inch deck with electronic mulch control. I have at least 6 mulched areas that I don't want to throw grass onto. The mulch option was the deciding factor between the 240 and the 350. ETA is 2-12 weeks. LOL.

You didn't tell us anything about them. Why would I pick the way more expensive one??

The S130 has a lifespan of 7-10 years as the X350 has a 15-20 yr with heavy duty frame and kawasaki engine compared to the Briggs and Srratton 130

I just purchased the X350...my neighbor has the S130 which I was originally planning on getting however John Deere told me the 350 has a longer life span and a better engine.

X350 around 3699 $? here in europe it costs around 6500€

I have had the x350 for 3 years now and I love it. My only complaint is with the dealer. I wish he told me that I could have gotten the x350 with 4wd.
