The 2 different methods on how the rear wheel is attached are not really different at all. The X390 has a rim that is keyed to the axle shaft. The X570 has a rim that is bolted to a hub, and the hub is keyed to the axle shaft the same way as the X390.
The most significant upgrade is the different transaxles.

A lot of people fail to understand the Importance of this, if you hook a bunch of heavy equipment behind a lawn tractor it will destroy your transaxle in short order. A friend had one of the low end John Deere lawn tractors and was pulling a very heavy lawn roller behind it, and complaining how it slowed down when going uphill pulling that lawn roller. It took some talking but I finally made him realize that tractor wasn't designed to do that, eventually it would need the transaxle replaced due to the abuse. Hopefully he didn't damage it too much before I could educate him.

Does the x5 series have more leg room than x3 series? Im 6’3”, not sure I’d be comfortable on the x3...

Assuming I could afford both, which one should I buy? The X380 or the X570? They would be used to mow roughly 1.7 acres, tow small loads of mulch, dirt, and rocks, tow a spreader, sprayer, and sweeper, and plow snow. The 1.7 acres is mostly flat but there are some long drainage ditches that would need mowed and they are fairly steep. Thanks!

If I said I am looking for a mowing tractor for my mostly flat half acre lot with a slightly sloped 3 car wide by 4 car long driveway. I live in Cincinnati, Ohio so plowing snow in the driveway several times a season is a strong possibility. Some other goals are to have a mower that will last “forever” if taken care of and could potentially handle a 2-3 acre lot if I potentially moved in the next 5-10years. With those things in mind would you consider a JD X758 with a 54in deck and snow plow “overkill”? Or would it be reasonable given the long term goals of wanting something that would last forever and could handle a bigger lot in the future.

Only took 40 seconds to incorrectly state that lawn tractor transaxles are not serviceable. My X370 is serviceable. You can drain and fill the fluid and change the filter. Dude, know what you are selling.

You should have mentioned the x390 has power steering and hydraulic lift where the x590 don't.

I've seen videos of 300 series tractors using ground-engaging equipment so that's not quite correct. However, the 500 series tractors are certainly better suited to it and will last longer if plowing, tilling and cultivating because of the heavier rear-ends (axel, tranny). But 'lawn' tractor and 'garden' tractor are accurate terms for the differences between these two machines.

This isn't exactly true ... I have an x310, which is a Lawn Tractor, and it has a serviceable transmission (not sealed)... so your statement is false... there are a number of x300 series tractors with serviceable transmissions... and they are Lawn Tractors.

Also, there are plenty of x300 series tractors that use 44" snowblowers, for example, or plows...
