The 1956 Dodge Coronet Lancer is one of the original luxury cars with advanced instrumentation. Is a wonderful car manufactured in the year I was born. Thanks for your classic car videos.

Virgil Exner's 'Forward Look' of the mid 1950's showed off beautifully here. I love mid to late fifties two tone cars with tail fins.

My first car was a 56 Dodge. Loved it.

In my opinion, it also has one of the nicest looking dashes of any '50's car!

I remember seeing the original 1955 commercial for this car, on youtube, where they had 3 pilots driving, on the San Francisco bridge, on their way to work. Great orchestration on the commercial, too. Made you super-proud to be an American. Nicely done Lou, as always.

I rode many a mile on that rear window 'shelf' in my Dad's 56. I loved that car.

I looking for a royal custom. I love the color scheme on this coronet - and it's in prestine condition. The master cylinder fins are for cooling and strength Lou. Dodges were well engineered.

I think what started the fins in Chrysler cars were the thin chrome fins on the 1953 Chrysler Crown Imperial Limousine. Only 111 of these limos were built by Chrysler at a price of about $7500.

If you could not get full satisfaction and pleasure from a Coronet Lancer in that day, that someone's heart, mind, and soul were way off track.

Very beautiful specimen! So hard to find one of the old Dodges with no rust. My dad has a '56...some Custom Royal parts & some Coronet parts and lots of spare parts. The power brake booster(accordian) is fun to play with, you can make it look like a ghost is pushing the brake pedal, good way to scare the kids! Also, the push button transmission was an awesome feature, generations ahead of it's time. Interesting to see the difference in trim between the Coronet & the Custom Royal...the Coronet did not have the extra large bolt-on teeth in the grill, just the nubs where they would be on a Custom Royal. Also, the tail lights don't have the slotted sides with little fins tacked on.

If today's Dodge was built to the same good standards of materials and workmanship as this Coronet Lancer, it would cost a big fortune. Old Dodge is true Dodge.

Beautiful car. Hope I can afford one some day if I ever get a classic this is the one I'm getting. Hopefully with the V8, 3 speed, and tri tone blue white black.

Really nice car well taken care of and it has a lot of features power brakes very important because as you say Lou it's a large car it's a tank and it needs stopping power just like my uncle's 56 DeSoto

The Coronet had the polyspheric head engine which was shared with Plymouth as the Hemi was reserved for the Royal models including the Custom Royal and the Royal Lancer. The Coronet was also available with the flathead six cylinder engine whose design dated back to the 1930s.

I miss America the way it used to not all that long ago I still like the new dodge challengers and chargers it still has a pushrod engine the best looking cars in my view and 30 years ago I would never have dreamed dodge would have a beastly muscle car again so that is a good thing but I do love this coronet what a beauty it's hard to believe that American cars were so absolutely stunning as these Mopar love em
