Interesting devices, but gimmicks and not practical, apart from the smart doorbell. Minimal added security with the door lock device, as this will not stop a burglar forcing open the door. But I guess that's not it's primary function. In that event you will ultimately just revert to doorbell video to identify the burglar. The crucial task with the doorbell technology is to load the camera feed immediately to identify the visitor in real time, and this proved problematic 50% of the time (Nest Hello seems more reliable). Who really remotely unlocks their door to let a friend or unidentified delivery man into their vacant house? Does anybody need sensors to automatically unlock their front door as they approach it? I think I'd just use the key in my hand. - Interesting technology nonetheless. Well delivered review, keep them coming.

Not bad! But why not integrate the digital password keypad and camera on the front panel of the door lock directly? Why so bother?

If you have the doorbell cam you do not need the August Connect. It will automatically act as the “hub” for the lock to work remotely via HomeKit.
