Don't you wish you could find an auto mechanic as conscientious, skilled, and honest as this man?

$60 an hour for all that skill? Incredible!!! Mind we have a mechanic here on the island who charges about that and he says it's plenty and there is no need for greed. Another nice chap.

The previous 'repair' may have been glued with something like Liquid Nails. Glad it came to you this time.

I worked restoring antiques in MA in the '80's, and ran across different glues; the one that looks like wood filler, I was told by my employer, was "fish glue", and I have seen that referenced in books. There was a period in time it was used as the "next greatest glue ever", but after about 20 or 30 years in a glue joint, it would fail, and then be extremely hard, needing a file to remove, as the solvent needed we didn't want around. I remember one chair of beautiful walnut with Hide glue, Fish glue, Epoxy, Carpenters glue, and Rubber Cement in layers I decided after a couple of years to use mostly Hide glue because it was easiest on the wood. I had to comment though because I've opened many a can of worms - sometimes by commission - and was so pleased you wisely didn't, love your channel.

Really nice job! It looks like that old repair may have been done with liquid nails, of all things.
Excellent work, and that instrument is surviving!

Great repair job for sure. I played a string bass in Orchestra in Jr. High it was a fun too. They actually gave me a broken base to play with at home and some of the braces were loose on the inside. They meant for me to keep for keeps when I took it back they told me. I sure wish I would have kept it now.

I wish I had pursued guitar repair much earlier in my life.
The challenges you take on look impossible, yet you can make the worst case scenarios look easy.
Thanks for sharing another adventure.

I was so pleased that you actually mentioned your labor cost. Very commendable. Rarely will others mention this and I know everyone wants to know. At least a cheapskate like me. Lol
