I think this is a subject that is relevant in America because sexual abuse by parents happen every day.  What isn't relevant, is using the Allen's, ET AL.  My feelings are that the NYT's printed the Dylan farrow letter for the sensational aspect.  Then the Woody Allen piece was put in later, after a choreographed length of time in order to increase the drama.  As the writer here said, the allegations are about something that happened a long time ago, hardly current.
