Nice video, it confirmed what I suspected that you don't HAVE to use 2 DTIs, one is enough. Nor do you have to mess around too much zeroing, the crucial measure is half the variance from one side to the other. Main disadvantage with one DTI is that it faces the wrong way after spinning it around! One workaround is to have the DTI face the ends of the table, so it's visible from each side. I'm going to go with the sneaky workaround, use a digital DTI. Set it to face the back on, say, the left side, so it will face the front on the right when spun round. Once it's set to touch the levels, setting a digital DTI is as simple as pressing the right button (even when facing away); spin it round, take the new reading, adjust the head till it shows half that value, check it all again. Good, clear video, thanks again...

A simple and effective tool, well demonstrated.

While you were rotating the DTI, I noticed that the mill also needed to be trammed front to back. The head appeared to be tilting forward. Thanks.

A very usefull tool, even better with 2 guages one on each end. Once setup you have no swinging back an forth which in itself can induce minor errors. Also as you found for all the table is virually square to the head the vice jaws are not square to the table I also found this with mine. I know those vices are reasonably inexpensive but the top of the jaws should be somewhat parallel to the base although the important bit is the inside of the back jaw.

We would like the twin dial indicator style unit, but they both even the single get the job done. Interesting to watch you share this one you made and how well she works like you calling the dial clock I prefer the clock dial name. We are going to use this in our future talking around here in the states. We think your milling machine is growing on us like its size and look for us.

When I do mine I use the table. The parallels could cause a problem. Thanks

At 2.41 did you say the indicator is in tenths? I could be wrong but I think it is in thousandths... no?

Again nice and thorough, but as some of the others I will be nitpicking because you usually are so thorough. At 3:58 you make a huge mistake, you say "So that means that this side of the table is 14 thou higher Don't you mean that the head is tilted to the left of vertical ?
