The 2 Ankermake printers keep track of upkeep and tell you how many hours the consumable parts have on them and when to replace them

I know markforged 3d printers do this. They tell you when it’s time to replace the nozzle and teflon tubes etc

The Raise 3D printers at work notify us to do maintenance between breakdowns

You see this in high end machine like markforged or stratasys
But we are talking 20k+ even 100k in case of big stratasys
Not 200 dollar

No, not needed. I clean and maintain your printer at least once every week or two.

This is a double-edged sword. I have a 2D printer that routinely tells me to replace an imager unit that isn't faulty or worn out, and only continues to print because I hacked the firmware. If that printer used an encryption scheme like the Bambu, I'd have to replace the entire unit because I don't support wasteful rent-seeking practices like that.

Bambu tightens their security and control over their users with every firmware update and it feels like it's only a matter of time before they might start pulling more tricks from HP or Apple's anti-user playbook.
