In this video, I share a few reasons why Italy has the lowest obesity rate in Europe. Drawing from my work in the health and fitness industry and travel experience to several Italian cities, including Milan, Modena, Rome, Florence, Venice, Bologna and more.

Of course, there could be other reasons why the Italian obesity rate is lower than the rest of the European Union, but again, this video names just a few of them.

You’d also do well to consider using some weight loss tips if you’re on your fat loss journey!

Italians are not obese because they don’t gorge on processed fast food. They eat sensible amounts of good quality, freshly prepared food instead. It’s no more complicated than that - you can’t walk off a double cheeseburger, large fries and a 16oz soda everyday.

Italian here, we usually think that the food should be good, not a lot! If so, even a small amount of food would satisfy you 😊

The 'passeggiata' after dinner is another healthy habit we have especially when the weather is nice, which is often 😅

I noticed that Italians don't drink a lot. They don't go out to drink socially, and if they do, they have an Aperol, or coffee, and not beer or wine. Wine is for dinner at the dinner table. They control their alcohol. They don't over-drink. They have a healthier attitude to drinking.

Also, their portions are smaller than the United States, the Pasta is weighted. They are not into huge sub-sandwiches. They eat a lot more vegetables and fruits.

Eating is a lifestyle in here. You have to seat around a table and taste your meal, which doesn't mean wolfing it down like it's the last food you'd ever have. Eating slowly has beneficial effects on digestion.

If you've seen how big the organic food industry is in the US its probably also due to the ban of GMO foods in Italy. In Denmark the culture is different yet they are very thin the only thing in common is that Denmark is a big consumer of organic foods.

My friends always remark that I eat way too fast. When I went to visit my Italian cousins in Italy, I saw where I got it from, they ate way faster than I did. So, I question the speed comment. My take is that their food is more local and natural. No preservatives or added sugar. Meals were simpler, no calorie laden sauces. And they are constantly active throughout the day.

Another obvious reason, Italians are very Social and pay great attention to etiquette and Fashion trends . Always conscious of "Fare La Bella Figura", making a good impression . Looking good in clothing requires the discipline of not overeating .

small correction : with Aperitivo usually you get free food, from chips and peanuts, to pizza and sandwiches, some places you have to pay for the food.

As italian I wish you are right but I am not sure! 😅 During the last 20 years obesity increased a lot because children dont use to play around anymore but they use to play videogames and be connected to internet! Especially this issue is present in southern Italy also due to wrong nutrition!

I'm italian and have been to USA. I was astonished by the food portions, they litteraly don't make sense, it's much more than a human being need to feel satisfied. Also by the quantity of sugar drinks americans drink. For us is normal to drink water when we eat. And in general the food is mostly industrial processed, full of sugars and fats. I enjoyed eating it the first couple of days but then I was feeling very disturbed, my stomach and my intestine felt heavy.

Per me, almeno rispetto ai Paesi del nord Europa, conta molto il fatto che non amiamo uscire la sera per ubriacarci di birra e super-alcoolici!

In America a "serving" of pasta in a restaurant is what would be considered enough for a family in Italy.

They eat a huge variety compared to the US. Read somewhere that the average Italian eats 16 different types of grains while Americans routinely eat only 3. Small quantities of a lot of different things is much more satisfying.
