🇵🇭 5 DAYs NO ELECTRICITY Leaving Siargao Today

🎄 Vlogmas day 5 It has now been 5 days without electricity on Siargao island in the Philippines. The submarine cable that brings power to the island from the mainland is being repaired at this time.

Sacha and Story are going to leave the island to spend time with Grandad Rob in Luzon and they are going via Clark Airport which is a brand new location for our family.

I am going to stay at home on the island to look after Poppy Love. Luckily we invested in Solar technology in 2022 and it is performing incredibly right now. I do a little demonstration of our system.

The girls are now on their way to Clark and we will see more of their journey soon.

Enjoy xxx

There are a few things I have learned living here in the PH. 1) 2 is 1 and 1 is none (borrowed from my days in the Army) Never rely on one item to survive. 2) if anything can go wrong it will in a HUGE way here. 3) Also keep your fuel tanks topped off. Generator, car, and motorbike. 4) keep a weeks of food and water in cans stored somewhere safe. 5) Dust and humidity kills everything (read rule one) 6) if you are feeling down, look around there is a local with a smile saying "welcome to the Philippines!!!"

What a nice early Xmas treat for story to be in Metro Manila. She'll experience again Xmas in the city. So glad you have solar power to share. Nowadays that is really the best investment. Wish we could have the same. 😊

when you made a video about the cost of that solar power I said to myself that's too expensive factoring my monthly bill and the life span of the battery but situation like that right now makes it a worth it and wise investment.

I just came back to Siargao from Manila. After chatting with a few of the travelers some had no idea there was an island-wide black. Governor Barbers just posted a Facebook status of a meeting held in Surigao City. There's a real possibility we could get power restored this coming Sunday. 🤞

Clark airport is almost always cheaper. & they’ve renovated it too so it’s even much better than before & less crowded, so definitely an option for your next travels.

I think some tourist don't really concern about the black out, they love to enjoy outdoor but definitely the hotel they stayed had some generators to cope up the heat of the night.

Here on Matabao island Masbate there has been no electricity on the island since Kristine. Off since October 22nd. We have solar power fortunately, but the rest of the island is in the dark.

It is good you have a solar power. More than a week without electricity was definitely a disaster.

This is normal in the Philippines. I have seen many feedback on blackout even from filipinos in my country. My colleague installed solar but now is monsoon for several months. Not so effective.

Good thing Jay was able to afford the cost of buying a solar power system! 😮 More subs and view after Typhoon Odette helped $$$ ❤❤❤
