I just love blackberries! This is such an easy way to do it!!

That is how I propagate all my blackberries. Sometimes I put in three or four in one pot to root. It works every time. In early spring when the shoots are too short to reach the ground and place in a pot, I just trim it and make cuttings and place in sand. That works too. Blackberries need to be pruned in the spring which will allow for the growth of many lateral shoots. The only time I buy blackberry plants is when I want a new variety. After that, in a couple of years, I have more than I know what to do with.

love the name. question - so when the roots form, will they send up a new shoot out of the ground? or will it just form roots, and you snip the plant off at whatever height you think the new roots can support, and that becomes the new plant? i guess i can find out myself when i give it a try, but just curious
