3 Savory Galettes | How to make a savory galette with whatever veggies you've got lying around

I love savory galettes! They are the perfect thing for a picnic, and picnics are the best!

Also,
• They are great hot, cold, or somewhere in the middle
• They can be made well in advance
• They are surprisingly easy to transport - (stacked between layers of parchment paper)
• They are a great way to use up loads of seasonal veg

You don't really need a recipe to make savoury galettes, all you need is a good crust and a bit of know how.

In this video I'm making a cherry tomato galette, a zucchini, corn, and basil galette, and a garden greens galette - similar to a spinach pie.

So pack yourself a picnic and let's go!

Update: I stopped wrapping my dough in plastic wrap. Instead, I pop it into a glass food container with a tight-fitting lid. Voila!

If I opened a restaurant I would name it “ Galette”.
I would serve savory and sweet galettes, salads other desserts and great coffee and teas. Your galettes all look delicious! Thanks for sharing🌷

In Australia, we spell savoury the correct way as well. Love your take on galettes. A French take on pasties and pizza. Just brilliant in my opinion.

I stopped searching for a dish idea when I came upon your vid. I'll make a Greens Galette for this SAT's lunch w a dear friend (the veggies will come from my garden). Here's the plan of the day: she'll teach me silversmithing while the hubbs tinker with their musical instruments in the garage. I'll bring her a pink bouquet of garden zinnias and bake the galette in her oven. Thanks for the idea!

Thank you very much for the informative video. I have made many sweet galette's, but have not yet made a savory galette. Your video has inspired me to pursue making savory galette's. While watching I have an idea of using feta cheese along with toasted mushrooms as part of the filling. Maybe also some lamb as well. Thanks once again for spending your time to create this video for us.

i've made about 4 galettes so far with your dough recipe and your filling guidelines and they've come out incredibly well (substituted the cornmeal for semolina)! i cant begin to tell you how much i look forward to the end-of-month scraps so i can toss it all together and bake a delicious, filling meal :) we've even made a dent in the dips and sauces we've collected over the years!! i always have a disk of galette dough in the freezer now :D

you said that once you have the recipes for a savoury dough and a sweet dough down, you can wing the fillings and i totally agree! i looked through you channel but i didn't see any mention of a sweet dough. is that part of a video to come?

I grew up making quiches, but galettes sound tasty also! Felt like leek, so that's whats sautéeing here ;) just waiting for the husband to come home with the flour for the crust now..
