Eating a live octopus

Показать описание
I ate a lot of interesting McDonald's food on a recent trip to South Korea. But the strangest, most intriguing food I tried was live octopus. It was tough, slimy, and still squirming around even after being chopped into tiny pieces. Not to mention the octopus arms suction on to your tongue and throat when you try to chew them.

you people don't understand, the octopus moves because the nerves are still reacting. The octopus is not alive anymore and therefore this video is not correctly named.

For the people saying "Oh noo I feel bad for the octopus" It's already dead. It's not eaten alive. And for the cutting part, hey the octopus had a few extra hours of life. If it was cooked, it would've probably already been cut hours ago

I understand that people take pity on the octopus, but that’s only because it is not the normal type of food. It’s just as cruel as eating a cow or a chicken if you wanna think of it that way.

the title is very wrong, the octopus isn’t alive anymore. It’s just it’s nerves reacting

This is probably how people are being treated in North Korea as octopus 🐙

The octopus nervous system is comprised of a central brain and each arm has a chain of ganglia that are capable of responding independent of the brain which is why they are capable of moving even when severed from the brain. This doesn't necessarily mean that the arms are "conscious" per se. Even in humans we have a separate nervous system in our gut that responds independent of our brain. Whether or not the octopus is alive at this point depends on whether or not the brain was destroyed.

Ok, everyone, its not actually alive. The nerves are actually just still reacting so its moving, but it is dead. And also, u have to chew extremley hard before it can stick onto your throat. But its actually so good, everyone should try it!

It's a bit dangerous because it still has active suction cups and it could choke you.
