Nice, i reversed the cut component and merged them and it worked!

It cut through the wall thickness!

This is great!! I would love to learn how to make these windows and cut openings dynamic, like in your dynamic shelf video. I am modelling a streetscape with lots of new infill in a heritage district so tips to do this quickly are helpful.

Interesting. Is there a way to do the same thing when the wall has thickness

It is possible to apply the same method to thick walls, you just need to duplicate the cutting component and rotate it 180° then you group everything together with the wall,
if you group both components = error
if you group the wall separately = error.
I also recommend adding size attributes to your cutting components for better adjustments.
It's not the best method but at least it's free unlike most plugins on the market.

what if the wall is thick, like 4.5inches or 9inches? Then how to make a component that cuts both side of the wall?

As much as this feature seems good, and halfway at the same time. I think it would make a different if the cut are able to penetrate the wall thickness and through wall that are grouped as that is the efficient way to do things in architectural modeling. This feature might be useful for background building that are less important but then again, spending time on putting windows on background building? Hmmm...

Is there a way of editing components from the 3D warehouse to cut planes? Some windows from the warehouse don’t cut into faces and you can’t seem to edit them to cut faces.

Is it possible to make a wall (with thickness) and set up two cut plane components (one on each face), group them together and that will cut both at once?

I know there's an extension that allows a component to cut the full thickness of a wall, but is there any way to achieve that in vanilla Sketchup yet?

I'm working on rendering a Futura home. I've figured out the dimensions pretty much and the only real problem that has me butting my head is figuring out how to cut out and place the oval windows on the curved shell using vanilla Sketchup. I'm going to eventually get it right...Eventually.

If I have a component that is created outside the surface then it won't work? The component must be created on the surface?
