Dont worry coz Preston will say its your soldering thats the problem or you built the quad wrong hahahahahaa

It's a repeating pattern with FlightOne 🙄
They release firmware / hardware which has various issues, then spout a load of marketing bullshit about the next best thing coming soon, expecting everyone to forget about the negatives. Everything with them seems like half a job & nothing is ever finalised / polished.
Moving to Betaflight is the best thing I've done in this hobby!

This explains alot why falco flew so sloppy I couldn't figure out what it was so this is probably the issue I was having I could not get a decent tune with my h7 lighting fc I wish I could bf on the h7 I have or can I put betaflight on my h7 do you know

I noticed Falco X had a distinct flight feel that seemed to be doing something slightly different from my sticks. I kind of like it, but lead to some surprising moments where my quad was in an orientation I didn't quite expect. I flashed back to BF because it would sometimes start ignoring the receiver, requiring a replug. It did this several times before arming and in the middle of configuring things in the OSD. Did not want to risk it screwing up in the air. Same quad/FC on Betaflight didn't have that issue.

Pretty interesting results indeed, Mark! Fantastic testing! 😃
I guess they need some more developers to take care of bugs. 😬
Anyway, stay safe there with your family! 🖖😊

Yes! I agree! There IS a flaw with falco, or flightnone. It just sucks. I have had the worst luck with 10 different raceflight boards. They are total trash. Betaflight for life!!!!

this also is prompting me to sell all my falcoX stuff. im over it. lol

yeah - the YAW thing ive had some SERIOUS issues with.... id do a full yaw and snap back to center and the quad was sideways! i like this sorta different format youre doin! easy listening :P

Thanks Mark for invastigating and sharing this. 2 years back, after moving from falcoX back to betaflight I was finally able to easly do inverted yaw spins without falling. I just suspected that it is an issue with falcox. Now we know for sure!

I’ve flew F1 pretty much the whole 2+ years I’ve been flying FPV. I have a quad on BF as well. I just don’t notice this on F1, and I do a pretty decent yaw moves and inverted yaw. Do you think I’ve just compensated for this over time or what are you’re thoughts? My yaw spins when I’m going full speed are level.

That quad would look very xmas-sy with white props 🤔 That's all I can contribute 🤭

If your theory is that sim mode is always enabled, then why not try with a very low sim boost value? Most folks don't go over 2.0 with that value anyway, and I don't think any of presets go above 2 either. For a racing quad, I much prefer the ease of setup of FalcoX to have a great flying quad without the need of becoming a black box expert. I guess I don't jam on full stick yaw much when racing either. I've been building and racing since 2014, and been through all the firmwares (baseflight, cleanflight, betaflight etc), before switching to FalcoX. The main reason was ease of setup still resulting in great flights.. As the years went on with Betaflight, more and more complexity was added, constantly changing values, then sliders, but not from the OSD, VTX tables, filters, complex ESC setup requiring bi-directional dshot.. I'm not a freestyler, so I have no idea what my video would look like with a hi-res GoPro, perhaps it would be awful.. But being able to run full throttle through tight course maneuvers with no prop wash and not having to react to uncommanded changes is very confidence inspiring. I'm sure BF can do the same, just requiring alot more fiddling with to make it work properly.

Very interesting observation. I don't really have any interest in FL1 at all for a variety of reasons, but I think this data is useful. I'm also curious if this same behavior occurs with the FL1 software on a non revolt f4 FC. 🤔

Falco x has a nice smoothing affect but i am having bobbles pitch and roll during snap moves. how to get BF to trac like falco? I can see my heartbeat in BF. RC smoothing?

I'm not from an English-speaking country, so I'm not sure if I understand what you're saying when I run the subtitles through a translation site…

1. When I input fast yaw, the gyro does not respond to roll and pitch inputs. (The quad is not controlled.)
2. the i and p values are decreasing then.
The reason for this is that the sim mode or sim boost is engaged.
4. I disabled sim mode and D term antialiasing filter but it was useless.
5. lack of anti-gravity mode is the reason.
6. increasing p causes bounce back for less i, which is not a solution.

Is that what you mean???

its fun that falcoX exists, but I dont know why people fly it as a daily.

I’ve been flying FalcoX since it came out and absolutely no issues. Blackbird flew FalcoX also and does some major yaw moves without issues. I’ve tried BF and just don’t get the feel I get from FalcoX but guess it’s a personal choice.

BF all the way for me, but as I look at this, I wonder if… does sim mode have some form of camera angle correction causing pitch/roll correction with yaw inputs?

Not making a case either way but I’m just trying to understand why that is happening at all, and - especially if it’s an error from the way the quad responds yaw inputs - why the pid loop doesn’t seem to be correcting for the pitch/roll deviation.

I don't face any of these issues and my I Term also is way higher then those numbers...Sim Boost is not supposed to be set to 5.0. Like most people fly at 1.2 or 1.0. You're quad also has quite the propwash. I fly FalcoX for a while now because previous versions of Betaflight felt unfinished and the feel of flight was neglegted by blackbox warriors (Feedforward shows that prominently). I can say with 100% confidence that my FalcoX quad is flying close to perfection and it took me like 2 or 3 Flights of tuning and some minor adjustments throughout. The biggest difference is that FalcoX I am able to hold altitude much better when doing tricks and especially engaging yaw then with Betaflight. That's the prominent difference. And it's visible in you're videos here as well. I don't feel like the bashing on FalcoX is justified here. Yes especially the H7 FC suffers major hardware incompatabilities. It's best used with stuff other Pilots tried (eg. T-Motor Pro II F3 ESC, Apex Frame) and it will yield good results. That's a little anyoing and my new quad doesn't fly good because of this but the other quads really fly fantastic.

Here I thought I was a complete idiot because I couldn't tell a difference between Sim Mode on and off...
