T30 mSATA SSD Upgrade and XP Install

Decided to upgrade the old T30 with a mSATA SSD using an mSATA to IDE adapter.

Something that might help if you ever have to do this again is you can use a heat gun on the plastic and it will make the plastic soft so it doesn't brake, the plastic is brittle because it's old and dried out. Just putting that out there for you seeing if that might help you for the next time. God Bless and have a good one.

I had a T30 and had to re-solder the memory holders as they are surfaced mounted and prone to cracking and causing memory problems. That was it's Achilles heel.

I tend to prefer sata m.2 to IDE enclosures. They are in the same form factor and should work the same, but sata m.2 drives are way more common than MSATA drives. You can still buy name brand sata m.2 vs only being able to get cheap Chinese brands for msata.

Try Zorin OS 15.3 Lite on it. Just change out the media player from Parole to VLC

The max. version of IE for Windows 3 is 5.0. The max. version for XP is 7. The max. version for Windows 7+ is 11. XP was released 9 years after 3.11. 7 was released 8 years after XP. I don't know what I'm trying to say here.
