Meanwhile, Russia is facing other problems at home, as the country's Federal Security Service detained two Central Asian individuals on Thursday for suspicion of plotting terrorist attacks in Moscow.
The FSB said one of the men was planning to carry out a suicide bombing on Friday, the beginning of the school year in Russia.
The other suspect was preparing to stab civilians and posted a video online pledging his allegiance to the so-called Islamic State group.
The arrests came just a few weeks after the FSB arrested four suspects accused of planning suicide bombings on the capital's transit system and shopping malls.
