Here's what I don't understand about Kelpian evolution. In the short trek, Saru's father is quite old. Is Saru supposed to be the first Kelpian to have had his threat ganglia fall off? Was it the environment of being challenged to fulfill his fullest potential aboard the Discovery that hastened his evolution? What kind of deal has Saru's father made with the Baru to farm out his whole race? And how will Saru deal with that revelation?


No doubt there will be some ... adolescent, testosterone filled aggression fueled by his newly found machismo once he returns home. But what will be the tipping point that will allow Discovery to break "General Order One" and come to Saru's aid?
