Interesting how the one video about Women's rights gets so few views. This might be the one thing that Atatürk actually gets all the hate for. It's not about his stance towards religion. It's that he EMPOWERED Turkish women to become independent, something that certain people simply can't stand. And looking at all the negative feedback here and elsewhere, it's almost exclusively men (or rather boys?) who attack him for that. It is see-through and pathetic.

No wonder the great Atatürk is the only historical leader who had an entire year (1981) dedicated to him by both the UN and UNICEF who wanted to honor his leadership on his 100th birthday. Simply put, the great Atatürk gave the Turks a flag but he also gave them a reason to wave it. When women in most European countries demanded equal rights, women in Turkey (regardless of their ethnicity), were already enjoying their rights and they even congratulated women in the US for obtaining some rights. It’ll be my honor to show my profound respect and gratitude to him when I visit his Mausoleum in Ankara. 🇹🇷🙏🏻

We studied Ataturk in school in Spain, at least we did in mine. It was a catholic school, but they explained the importance of moving with times without losing your essence and what made you great. I am not incredibly knowledgable about present day Turkey or the Ottoman Empire, but one thing I know is that one of the good achievement was the integration of races, faiths and cultures from their territories. That clearly is a Turkish way of thinking because it transpired till present day.

A big fan supporter and admirer of Ataturk, from Hindistan 🇮🇳🇮🇳♥️♥️🇹🇷🇹🇷... unfortunately I have seen many Indian muslims hating this man, calling him a kafir and western puppet..well since I am not a muslim, I dont wanna comment on it..but I seriously think, he is the GOAT of 20th century...his far reaching reforms were beyond praise ❤❤❤❤

Okay but why were there dresses replaced with western dresses and western hats, If they were really that nationalist and devoted to their culture, why didn’t they replace them with Turkish clothes, even those which were worn before the Turks adopted Islam

Despite all thing AtaTurk did, his banning headscarf and veil in public sector was not just a superficial and shallow act but very damaging. Families who had to choose between educating their kids and the headscarf, especially those in countryside, may have opted to prevent girls from education. Once this was lifted in 90s, there was an explosion of number of educated girls among more traditional families. The same trend in Iran was far far more explosive. A unintentional result of the Islamic revolution was explosive growth of girl versus boys in universities in the last decades. This in the long run is far more liberating for women than forcing them to wear or not to wear the scarf!
