Serena's speech about being tired of towing the line, his line, of no witchcraft is spot on, up to a point. Serena never understood the need to hide who Sam is.

It's similar to what HE tells Sam in WITCH OR EIFE and MCTAVISH, about tolaking a witch in the prime of her life and put her in a domestic cage, asking her to hang up her twitch. It hurt Sam.

This is a criticism that I have of some of the writers during the first five years. With a few exceptions, like THE MAGIC CABIN, Darrin would blow his cool at the thought of Sam using her witchcraft.

In the final three years, the writers gave Darrin a far softer side in terms of accepting Sam for who she is, without compromising their secret, despite Endora's meddling. I think that Dick Sargent had something to do with it. He said that the marriage had matured and Liz agreed with that. So do I.

It was too bad Darren couldn't tell the difference between Samantha and Serena like Tabitha did. In the later seasons I felt so sorry for Darren because Endora or any of Samantha's people used their witchcraft to harass Darren or turn him into any kind of animal
