Great video Sage thank you. Never ran over 20 miles and doing 50 miles tomorrow solo on the west highland way in Scotland. You are a legend and a gentleman... thank you again

Thanks for the tips! I hope to be running an ultra later this year! As long as it doesn't get cancelled...

As always, more useful advice per minute than any other channel out there. Thanks Sage!

I'm sitting here three months off my knee due to failing to heed Sage's advice: do not over train. Love watching the videos though it's scratching an itch.

Great points- just completed 1st marathon, 4K' elev on trails of NC...the time on feet is so important to remember, thanks to the Sage-running base plan !!

I remember my first trail half marathon (after already completing a full road marathon). I thought I was going to smash it out at my normal road pace. I was so wrong. It has been my only race where I thought I might quit after 16 km. But I got to the end and loved it. Been running trail ultras ever since.

Finding the perfect ultra shoe takes a lot of research. I love my Hoka One One Challenger ATR 5s.

Nice video. I'm thinking of moving on from road marathons to off-road and the info on equipment was particularly helpful

Hi Sage, I’ve been doing a 30k long run once a week for over a year now in my training, this week I felt really good at 30k so I thought I’ll give my first 50k distance ago, I took half banana, hand fill of dates nuts & raisins, one gel, & just held a bottle of water in each hand, got to 43k & my Garmin watch started going flat, felt really good but, got put off when battery went flat, so I did 44k over 800m elevation, I was waiting for my legs to tier out but felt good all the way, it’s amazing how over time doing a regular 30k easy pace run, all of a sudden feels like my legs can handle a 50k distance, cool feeling, thanks Sage 😀👍🍀🌳🌲🏃🏼‍♂️✌️

Good stuff thanks for sharing Sage. Currently training around 200kms per month to prepare for an Ultra Trail Run. Just increasing training and trying to progress slowly, patience is essential here. Congrats from a fellow vegan take care!

A handheld also costs more energy to haul along. A vest keeps the weight of your fluid close to your center of mass.... I heard that from a researcher on The Science of Ultra podcast... A great podcast.

I'm signed up for my first 50 mile in November, and it's through the Ozark Mountains with a 14 hour cutoff. I think it's gonna be close.
