5900X Vs 5950X - Which should you choose?

Today is more of a focus on the Ryzen 9 5950X and comparing it to the other Ryzen 9 5900X, although I only had these Cpus for a week, I was able to come to some rather interesting findings, and that is that both of them will be phenomenal in a workstation, though there are some key differences between the two, other than just $549 vs $799. Let's discuss.

5950x is a must for me. Solitaire needs as more cores and threads as it can get and it's a no brainer for me to buy the 5950x

When the 1800X first launched I was looking at my 4790K, enjoying it, while I dreamt of mainstream processors being a reality some day with 12 or 16 cores and high single core performance. When I saw the 5900X launch I knew that day had come, using the 5900X with a 3080 now and I feel like the luckiest guy on the planet. Match made in heaven.

Great discussion regarding productivity benchmarks. It seems to me that higher sustained all-core clocks are more important when choosing between 12 and 16. 12 is plenty enough.

I found a dirt cheap 5900x in the UK for £215 a few months ago. Paired it with a 3080. It's nice not needing to worry about performance for literally anything I would personally be doing. More than happy to wait for the 8000 series and the 5000 series products from their respective companies in a couple of years.

Great video, thank you! If you disable 4 of the cores on the 5950x and run the test again 12c vs 12c, I bet the 5950x runs cooler at a faster GHz.

As much as I loved and still love my 6700K, I never knew editing 32.5mp photos in Lightroom would be so intensive on the CPU and especially working with many layers and profiles across multiple photos. Gaming is ok for the most part, but I think 5-6 years is a good lifespan, so perhaps the 5900x and 32GB of ram will be the next system for me.
