How to Tell Your Music Teacher You Want To Quit Lessons -
Teachers become friends, confidants or even therapists so it can be hard to make a clean break when it is time to stop lessons. Many students feel so awkward that they just stop coming to lessons and don't follow up at all!

If you are wondering how to tell your teacher you want to quit lessons, just be honest! Tell them right away that you will be stopping your lessons, either in person, phone call, email or even text! It's OK, we can handle it and we're used to it! Students come and go and it is totally fine to make a change or stop. What you shouldn't do is stop all communication because you just might want to come back and/or you may need a reference in the future. Keep the communication open and honest and you will be fine!

I am a double bass player for my high school orchestra and band class.And I’ve been taking lessons since 2nd semester of my sophomore year.And now the lesson is not very interesting anymore and because of the pandemic we’ve been doing our lesson virtually.And the reason why I want to quit is because he gives me a lot of music to learn and it’s impossible to practice because I have other things going on.And when I mess up he gets a little frustrated as well.And that puts a lot of stress on me.I still love music and I still love to play my musical instrument during my free time.In my opinion sometimes a person doesn’t need lessons of any kind to get better at what they are passionate about it’s just there dedication, effort and interest that will help them be successful on what they love to do.I know it’s been 3 years but thank you for posting this video!

Thank you just helped me a lot because I started doing band and I don’t like it and I really want to quit but I am afraid of what’s my teacher might say or think he is a very nice teacher though and I love him just I don’t enjoy doing band as much as I thought I would and I have been stressing over what to do or say thank you so much this helps!
