Beatles Sun King Guitar Lesson + Tutorial

Today is song #10 in the Abbey Road Series and it's how to play "Sun King" on guitar by the Beatles!

If this is the first video you have seen in this series, I am posting a brand new song lesson each week on how to play every single song from the Beatles album Abbey Road!

This song starts off with a short double-stop pickup in the style of Jimi Hendrix. Then it moves into a vibey chord vamp using an E6 and an F#m7.

The Beatles loved to use major 6 chords. If you haven’t learned this sound yet you are missing out on a special secret sauce to getting a Beatles style sound.

The influence sounds like Hendrix via Curtis Mayfield. Mayfield's soul guitar riffs were quickly picked up across genres throughout the late 60s and early 70s.

Well presented, this beautiful and not so well known song, another genius masterpiece of the Beatles! But you are wrong playing a G7. It is a g minor before you get to the A7, although this seems to be contrary to musical theory. That is the Beatles genius

never noticed before but the guitar in he sun king has a slow surf music vibe to it.
Fleetwood Mac ~ Albatross (1968). also i used to be in a band where we did an instrumental version of day tripper and it definitely sounded like a classic surf rock song.
