Had about $1200 actual cash, $1000 in cashable checks, about $3200 in checks written to my business.

Some couple found it, saw that half my credit cards are associated with a business, googled the business and gave me call.

I was like 24 at the time and really needed that stuff. Bless those people.

Someone donated a fake book to my library with $800 in it. Using another real book that had an address label on it has a “this belongs to, ” I drove to their house after work and returned it 😅

About a year and a half into our marriage my husband and I moved out of the condo he bought before we met. There was a lot to purge. The day we put the condo on the market- having already had our offer on the new house I was diagnosed with thyroid cancer. On top of the stress of everything I had severe brain fog. Somehow in purging documents I threw away my husband’s naturalization papers. Thank goodness he had his US passport. Then— still not doing great— I tried to help by filling out the paperwork to replace the papers. He pointed out I mistyped his birth year. I corrected it and then sent in the wrong set. It took months to fix. He doesn’t let me live it down. 😂

Get a small safe big enough for such important documents. Has to be fire resistant type . Getting replacement for documents is long and annoying process. Might be costly too depending where you are .
