A video a long time in the making, I finally get the correct cable to be able to use my Amstrad computers and try out some of the software titles I have for them.
All of the items were obtained over a three year period, and not having a proper Amstrad monitor I had to wait until I ordered the correct video cable :)

Make sure you checkout the RetroUnlim web site, lots of great Youtubers who love retro gaming and collection.

Big smiles from me! Seeing the CPC's in Oz is unusual yes. Great books too! I had the omnibus one at some stage. I have the Scart cable, but always play on the CM14 Plus monitor that has stereo speakers inside. I can give you some directions on how to format the disk, but with your know-how I'm sure you won't find that a problem Tony.

Hope you enjoy them, I'm sure you will.

Nice to see you got the Amstrad working it's got some great games. I'm loving mine...at least the games I have managed to load & play due to the plus range (my one) having a different OS & firmware to the orginal Amstrad computer, I've also played a bit of Xevious & loving it aswell as Road Blasters... Jail Break is actually not bad but well hard. Jackal was OK and a couple of the Hitec Hanna Barbera games are all the games out of about 30 games I have managed to load :) So yes I do want the original model :) It's a great computer. Love the quirky sounds coming of the the main speaker...doesn't bother me at all :)

Good to see the Amstrad take on R-Type, controls looked at bit difficult. I had the Spectrum +2, graphically looks pretty similar

Good stuff. Plenty of games out there for the CPC as you well know. Will be interesting to see what you may pick up for it. It does have some decent shooters for it. Never played Xevious on the Amstrad and wasn't that keen on R-Type.

That is very nice clean image you're getting out the computer. I quite like the color palette, even if the games can be a bit underwhelming.

The original R-type has a history to it. Drawn in Mode 1 to get a high res, it was rushed out from the Spectrum port. I have done a couple of vid's on the game and it's 128k remake, which is amazing compered. Still, not the worst conversation.

I am new to the amstrad so its pretty refreshing to me :)

Pretty sure R-Type is the Spectrum version just lazy-ported, sad that so many Amstrad games did not take full advantage of the machine.

Games writers were so lazy with the sound. I made some awesome compiled games with music and decent sound effects

That Amstrad is going around. Giles has one, Novabug has one, now you as well.
I noticed that one of your books was written by Ian Sinclair (not Clive, but maybe his brother?)
Picture looks really clear Tony. It's just the sounds that isn't very impressive I must say :)

Got to feel great to have those up and running at last - especially after such a long time :)

Surprisingly, Xevious doesn't feel as choppy as I'd expect (and *miles* ahead of the mediocre C64 port).

Do have to ask, how are you handling the SCART capture? Planning on getting something sorted to try & capture my non-composite machines at some stage :)
