Why China Has Only ONE Time Zone (Despite Being Huge)

China is almost as large as the USA but while the USA has nine time zones, China has just ONE. Why?

I honestly feel a slight negativity in this video even though you tried to stay objective. To westerners many things in China might appear strange or bad... but people there have a different mindset. Of course not everyone in the far east and the far west would agree to it, but as I have travelled many places in China I can tell the majority of people actually sees the benefit in that. The organizational benefits in scheduling, planning, business etc. that one time zone offers have helped Chinas development a lot. I personally have experienced the normal sunrise at 8, the sunrise at 4:30 and the sunrise at 9am and all was fine by me. Locals just adapt their routine to it. And since the majority of the population and economy is based in the geographical Beijing time regions of China its not that big of a deal either

Does having a standard time even matter that much, all the factors have to do is say 11-7 instead of 9-5.

Such a rigid mindset as in "My way is the normal".
In computer world, a universal time is there to keep the sanity of programmers and system administrators. China just makes their own 'universal' time across the country.
