The reason for the beginning was that my country was too poor at that time. In harsh environments, people would have more children. Maybe more children could create more security, or they could be biological instinct, just like the nature. The animals will breed more in the harsh conditions, and expect some of the future generations will survive. But many children die of hunger and disease within a few years of life, and it is often difficult for a surviving child to get a good education. Women certainly have the right to have a child, but it is even more cruel to those who have died or who have difficulty getting a good education from an early age. . .

I said back in the 1970's when they were planning this malarkey, and I've said it since and I'll say it now: It won't work. It will result in many males having no wives, only the richest who can afford to pick a girl. It will result in other males importing brides from places like Cambodia or Thailand, etc., which will replace many of the females denies life. Fewer people working and paying taxes only increases the control the totalitarian government has. The only ones to benefit, though arguably not much, are those females who survive to adulthood and will have their pick of many single males, since the single males will outnumber the single females by many times. The few who remain will have to take care of the elderly, either physically or economically or both. The government of the PRC was shortsighted and borderline stupid. Piss on this policy.

How misleading. They say "tibetan uyghur or whatever" making it sound like they weren't already exempt. The one child policy only included HAN Chinese and even then there were exceptions to the rule...

So what’s the protocol or provisions for twins??

I hated that policy. Chinese families were traditionally big, as a kid you were guaranteed to have several siblings. With this policy, a lot of the kids grew up alone, and while parents do compensate by focusing all their attention on their lone child, often spoiling them in the process. From the child's perspective they can't truly experience what it's like to have siblings. By the time this policy ended, the parents aren't able to have any more kids, either because they're too old or they're financially unable to.
