I use c4 to clean mine. No computer means no dust

IMPORTANT NOTE: Hold the fans on your computer when using compressed air on them. If the fans spin too fast you risk damaging them

Last time I used compressed air my brother held me down and put the tube up my nose and sprayed it a lot and made me very dizzy

FYI: Electronics manufacturers usually use de-ionized water for cleaning their boards, so water is not necessarily 'bad'. BUT, you need to thoroughly dry them before use.

Thanks for the help, me and my dad wanted to fire up his 1996 pc build with windows 95 and it was so dusty the fans won’t spin up and there was 7 spiders. He hasn’t used it since 2006

Cleaned my CPU Fan with Dishwashing Liquid now it's so clean I can't even see it

The trick to prevent the fans spinning is to block their movement, i typically use small cable ties and jam them in between the fan blades for the CPU, power supply and any auxiliary fans that maybe connected. Then use a small leaf blower to clean the dust out, it's pretty effective. Remember to blow in different directions to remove the most dust. Then don't forget the remove the cable ties before turning on the PC.
