If you break the law in another country, why does the USA have any responsibility to bail you out? Yes, you are an American citizen but like it or not, you have to obey the laws of another country. Not sure why we are involved at all.

Even if this was her very first time ever stepping foot in Russia, it's STILL her responsibility to make sure she understands what is and is not legal to enter that country with.

Ignorance is no excuse.

She should have known that if she gets caught doing something illegal in another country that you will be prosecuted. Other countries don’t bend their laws the way the American justice system does. Remember in another country “ You do the crime, You will do the time.”

Oh I’m sure she is very happy that she’s out of this terrible racist country and I can only hope all of the people that thinks the way she does this same thing happens to them

I was in the U.S Navy and was stationed all over the world. There were prescription drugs that military members could be prescribed that were illegal off base in foreign countries. We were told to abide by the laws of those countries when based there. My very first time overseas, I was detained at customs because a drug dog alerted on my bag. I was scared, because I thought someone had put something in my bag. After searching my bag, they found out that the dog had smelled my half eaten Snickers bar.

My introduction would've been, "How's America looking now, Brittney?"

The irony of an American athlete being jailed in a country like Russia is too much. If she's played in Russia so long, you'd think she'd have more appreciation for this country or understand luck runs out with the law, but what can I expect from the circle of privileged athletes?

She's (kinda)

Now all of a sudden Brittney Griner wants help from America after she said America was racist

You mean to tell me that her attempting to take drugs into ANOTHER country is HER fault?…
She broke the law in another country. She has no one to blame but herself.
People take the freedoms in this country for granted

It’s the perfect representation of how the elites of a sport think they are above the truths we all must live by. Brittney made some choices she learned she wasn’t allowed to make. Cause and effect. She’s an example of how not to think you’re more entitled than you really are.

The fact she was "hiding" the drugs goes to show how much she knows that it's illegal to even have it.

Russia: “we have Brittany Griper”
USA: “who?”
Russia: “you know, the WNBA”
USA: “uhh, is that a venereal disease?”

I'm an American who lives in China and you're absolutely right Mr. Tatum. When we travel overseas, we are no longer in US jurisdiction, therefore what is okay in the United States is sometimes not okay in some other country. A few years ago there was a football player here in China named Wendell Brown. Wendell got into an altercation at a bar, even though it appeared that he wasn't the aggressor, the person he got into a fight with suffered greater injuries than he did. Wendell refused to pay the extortion money to the guy he beat up and was sentenced to four years in prison for it. The whole thing was ridiculous, but that's how the law works here in China.

i wish more Americans understood how great life is in America compared to the rest of the world, the folks who watch your channel already know this, but the other dummies who scream in the streets really need to step out of the US for awhile and experience what the other side is like.
I live in China because my job sent me here, that's it; the sooner I can get back home to Florida, the better.

Maybe if she spends time in jail in a foreign country, she'll LEARN to appreciate this country.

I'm glad Officer Tatum pointed out that "equal" rights does not mean "special" rights.

I keep hearing people call her a star. I have never heard of her before this incident. How big of a star comes out of the WNBA? That is on the same level as the special olympics to me.
