I think he didn’t quite realize how difficult being a president would be, but the invasion lit a fire under him and all of Ukraine. I mean, of course it would. Everything is on the line for them. One things for sure, they’ve put up a heck of a fight. I respect Zelensky for standing up. This is when he really needs to.

Another important factor is Zelensky is the first Jewish leader in Ukraine and Ukraine has a history with antisemitism if Sasha Baron Cohen became PM he’d be the first Jewish PM of the Uk as Benjamin Disraeli converted to Christian and was just of Jewish heritage

Zelenskyy deserves to win Time Magazine Person of The Year. It will be a great insult to Ukraine if he does not win.

According to recent opinion polls, President Zelensky has an over 90% approval rating from the Ukranian citizens (up from around 30% before the invasion). As this war goes on, we will see if he continues to keep high approval ratings or if approval ratings start decreasing due to the longevity of the conflict.

Khrushchev underestimated Kennedy the same way for the same reasons.

They didn't even show his best comedy skit IMO. The European Union acceptance call skit has to be one of the funniest things I've ever seen.

Few politicians are willing to literally put their lives on the line to stand for what they believe. There are many in the West who would've been content to write Ukraine off, but his leadership and the courage and fight in the Ukrainian people have awakened the West and moved them to action to counter the Russian threat. Without this, the Pax Americana (or "Long Peace" referenced in that "Fallen of WW2" video) that has brought immense prosperity to the world (a fact many don't truly appreciate) would have been finished. While times are still very dangerous and the future uncertain, Putin has at least been denied a strategic victory, if not a tactical one. For that, we owe Zelinsky.

Comedians can make for great politicians because they are generally politically aware of current issues in society and politics.

Putin underestimated Zelensky as a leader, he underestimated Biden's response, and he underestimated Europe's response.

Robin Williams did a movie years ago where he was a comedian that runs for president. Called Man of the Year. Check it out. Very good.

Russia does not need the support of a world leader. Russia just needs the support of the world's people

We actually elected a comedian as a Senator in the US. His name is Al Franken, he was the Senator from Minnesota.

The seductiveness of power is a big part of why so many places use term limits of some sort. It is also worth mentioning that governing is much more difficult than we often give it credit, it's like growing up all excited that as an adult you'll be able to do whatever you want, only to grow up and come to the realization that being grown up means you owe money, have to find food, get around, be a good neighbor, and that it's not quite all it's cracked up to be even if there are a lot of benefits. Both are a bit of a reality check, I guess.
