Are you searching for the right stand mixer for you? There are two different kinds of KitchenAid® stand mixers to consider: Tilt-head stand mixers and bowl-lift stand mixers. There are 3 key differences between tilt-head and bowl-lift stand mixers:

Design

The KitchenAid Tilt-Head Stand Mixer is designed with a head that tilts back from its base where the bowl is attached. This design makes it easy to access the beaters, while leaving the bowl open to quickly and easily add more ingredients.

On the high-capacity bowl-lift stand mixer models by KitchenAid, the head of the stand mixer doesn’t tilt back. Instead, the head is stationary, and the bowl is firmly placed under the head on the mixer’s sturdy arms. You then raise and lower the bowl using a lever that’s attached to the mixer. Bowl-lift stand mixers are designed with broader bases, providing the necessary stability for their powerful motors.

Capacity

Tilt-head mixers come in the Classic™ or Artisan® Series design. Classic tilt-head stand mixers come standard with a four-and-a-half-quart bowl, while the Artisan stand mixers come with a five-quart bowl.

Bowl-lift and Pro Line® Series Stand Mixers, on the other hand, offer a higher capacity than tilt-head stand mixers. They can come with a five, six or seven-quart bowl, which can produce nine, 13 or 14 dozen cookies per batch.

Physical Size

Tilt-head mixers stand approximately 14 inches tall and weigh 26 pounds. These are versatile and best-selling models, as they can be stored easily in cabinets and cupboards when you no longer need them.

Bowl-lift stand mixers stand at approximately 16.5 inches tall and can weigh between 29 and 32 pounds, depending on the model type you choose. These stand mixers are best stored on countertops, rather than moving them into a cabinet.

If you’re a maker working with limited space and need something smaller, the Artisan Mini Stand Mixer is ideal. It stands at 12 inches tall, weighs 14.5 pounds and comes standard with a three-and-a-half-quart bowl. This mini mixer packs all the power as a Classic model, just in a smaller design that can more easily fit your space.

No matter your kitchen space or culinary needs, KitchenAid has the stand mixer for you!
