That was super duper clear, crisp, and easy to follow. What a tremendous public service. Thank you, sir!

Coming from a garage door installer please make the opening a 1/2in smaller on each jamb regardless if a trim weather seal will be installed or not. It makes our jobs much easier and makes the finish product look and seal better. If the homeowner is really that upset about an 1in tell them to bite me. Thanks

very good details Yep I wonder just exactly how much wider you would make it when you get that foundation would you give me a couple inches so you don't get in trouble the guy will looked at last he said he'd like to have a 2 x 6 on the inside of the door so if that's the case we have to hold back to the stem wall whatever you wanna call the off the I wonder about that

I wish all builders would watch this video.

Nothing worse than drilling a lag into drywall and have no wood stud behind the drywall for the lags to grab it.

A tell-tale signs that the garage door framing is not done properly is when you see metal angles that are being used to secure the garage door top vertical tracks (flags), and spring bracket, or garage opener boom. Metal angles are the ones being used for garage door horizontal tracks.

I appreciated this a lot. Did you ever do the 2nd video you spoke of? It's like a needle in a haystack on Youtube/the websites.

I love your videos. Could you do one on how to support the roof/wall so that the header can be replaced on a similar structure to the one here? My roof has four sides though

Was a door installer for a decade, better off doing the opening the exact size of the door. At most a quarter inch each side, but a full inch can cause issues with odd sizes and weather seal or decorative hardware eating into the style(design of door, long short or coach panel) Also bottom retainer/rubber can start clipping back jambs if opening too small compared to door size. Also better off to frame back jambs and springpad before drywall, otherwise door installers will cut that drywall or install jambs/pads over top that drywall(totally improper way)

Excellent video! You covered all the little details nicely. As you say, preplanning makes everything go smoother.

Hello, do you have a video showing options for installing a header for a 8’ tall garage door with 8’ tall walls and cathedral ceilings.

I have a interesting plan for am building a shed but I want lean too on both sides so am planning it for but am no builder or engineer so am putting a header all the way across both sides to have something to attach to the original structure. Not sure if this is the best way to go about it but am sure it will work

Great video. We just bought one of those steel garage buildings where we make both end walls ourselves. We will be installing 16' garage door on one end, and 10' garage door on the other end with men door. This video will come in handy.

We will make the width 0.5 inches narrower on each side, so 1" total less than width of the door, and 0.5" lower than the door height, will that work ok?

have a video of a transom window over the garage doors?

Thank you for the video. So just to confirm, the door jambs are not load bearing? I have some rotted jambs I want to replace, but always thought it would cause the header to come crashing down.
