This 11 Year Old Point and Shoot Camera might be the perfect EDC camera

A few weeks ago I stumbled across some of the photos that I took with my old RX100 Mk I over six years ago and I was honestly impressed by the look and quality of those images. So I decided to take this camera out with me once again to see how it holds up today.

A couple of people pointed out that second hand prices for the RX100 are actually not as cheap as stated in this video. More realistic prices seem to start at 130€ (plus). For that price it is certainly not the "bargain of the century". It does however seem to hold its value well considering I bought it for 350€ brand new in 2015.

I used an RX100ii for years. Then some kid tossed it on concrete for no reason. Got the RX100iii and still have it. Now my kid is using it for his first camera too. Best point and shoot line ever made, imo. What's crazy, as I evolved as a photographer... It kept getting better ha.

As the owner of a Sony RX100M7 camera that I hardly use, this was a great video for rethinking tech we still have that may be a bit older. I just got the Fuji X100V and love it, but after watching this I will be sure to make good use of the Sony. Just because tech is older, it doesn't necessarily mean it's outdated and can still create quality experiences. Always great hearing your perspective.

I picked up an RX100 Mk II on eBay a few months ago for $225 and I really like it. Now I have a camera with me at times and places where I wouldn't have brought the X100V along. Phone is okay in a pinch but when shooting for the pleasure of it I'll take the RX100 any day.

Managed to pick one up earlier this year for £95 from a high street camera shop's "used" selection. A very clean example with the Sony finger grip attached. Great little stills camera, and tremendous black and white images. Add to that its portability and snappy autofocus and it's a really good little everyday camera.

I bought a mk ii foe £200 when my A7ii broke on the first day of a holiday, had loads of fun with it!!! My A7ii is now back from Sony but I’ll keep the little RX 100 for in the car and in pocket on walks. Chances of picking one up a mark 1 for 30€ are close to zero, but make great click bate….

I’ve had the RX100 IV for many years, best compact on the market. It’s so good that an upgraded version is still manufactured.

It’s like one of the reasons I sold the x100v. The iPhone 14 pro came out. I could never see myself carrying the Fuji and I haven’t missed it at all.

I recently acquired a Canon G7X m3. I have been having a lot of fun with it. Coming from a full frame Sony and a myriad of lenses. It’s very convenient and pocketable.

Could you please provide the brand name and size of the magnetic lens hood and filter and where it might be available, preferably in the US?

Great camera, but wouldn't advise it as a used purchase. We had two who failed in similar fashion, the lens wouldn't retract all the way and/or an error.
But if you get hold of a good one, it is a good camera for stills.
Since the devices were out of waranty, we bought a MK3 which works fine and has a more quiet and smooth lens retracting operation.

I have all three sony Rx models, I feel Sony have a trifecta of fun camera in this series, all for different uses, and each have something the other simply can't do.
100 the portability
10 the reach
1 the dynamic range, low light and of course, Bokeh.

I actually got this for 30€ with a bad sensor cable which was pinched inside the camera (common issue unfortunately). Opened it, laid the cable the other way, closed it and it works. So yes, I have a 30€ RX100 mki 😊

This is an off-the-wall comment, but your English is excellent! Also, I enjoyed the music.

Hey, I am a professional photographer in New York City and your video was really great. How do you get the white borders easily around your images?

After certain point, cameras have decent enough image quality for it to be ageless, around 2010, where this camera is out is IMO that point.
Some people can stomach point and shoot cameras from early 2000s but I can't IMO.
