Very informative video. I am a digital nomad and currently on the road, my Wise account is my daily spending account but I use Starling for my main account where I keep my cash. With the exception of a few currencies, the exchange rate you get from Wise is always a bit better than the Mastercard rate used by Starling/Monzo/Curve/Chase/Monese, etc..from my experience. But the biggest advantage of Wise is that in most countries, you can use the account in the same way as locals use theirs, eg in Ukraine I was able to send money directly to someone’s debit card number, and in the Philippines I am able to directly transfer money to a local QR code e-wallet like local people, Saying that, if you are only going on holiday for a few days to a couple of weeks, a Starling, Chase or Monzo account is probably all you need.

Hi bob, I have been using the wise app to transfer people money in Peru to go to the atm for me. The atm swallowed my bank card three months ago. My “wise” card should arrive soon. Is the standard procedure to transfer money into wise account from my normal bank account and then withdraw from Peruvian atm for cash ? Sorry if this is an obvious question. Thank you for taking the time to make this video. 🙏

Thanks for the info. May I ask if i could use it, as a replacement for a bank account, and link it to my YouTube channel, would this work or do I need a bank account?

Quite conflicted on what to do with my Wise account right now… I’ve used the multi currency account since 2018 and while I find it extremely convenient for converting currencies, I’m not entirely sure the fees and limitations are worth it or not…
The fees seem to go up every few months. Also neither of my other bank accounts charge foreign transactions fees anymore (one even reimburses foreign atm fees). They probably don’t offer quite as good of a conversion rate, but I need to put them to the test on my next trip side by side with the Wise card. There are so many factors to consider when converting currency so it is sometimes difficult to tell if this is saving you money, costing the same, or costing more. 🤷🏻‍♂️
It is REALLY nice having account/routing/IBAN numbers in a few different places. That is one of the biggest value props here IMO!

Nice video. Thanks for the tip on the one-off virtual card number option for ‘first month free’ type subscriptions! 👍🏻

I’ve got a question, my problem is that I live in Canada but I came from france and we don’t have the same system for the transaction, in France we need a RIB and in Quebec an “specimens chèque”. So I must have two accounts to receive transactions from my parents who helps me from France and by my employer in Quebec. I need an account that can do both

we are travelling to Germany for a 3 week holiday and after looking at all the cards available I feel none are really suitable for a relatively short holiday. I feel taking cash already exchanged into euro and using our mastercard for emergencies will suffice. WE have prepaid majority of trip so only requiring spending money. or would you recommend still getting a card loading it with 2, 999 euro ($5, 000) aud? what happens when you have remaining money on card when back in aus? Are there fees to close account? Thankyou for any info you can supply

My wise card was registered in US. What is the max amount I can withdraw from ATM in Malaysia? From the pricing table, do I follow the max amount and fee in the Malaysia or US region? Thanks.

Hi, great video. I just have a question. I have my wise account. I need to transfer money to my son. Does he need to have a wise account also for this purpose, for just receiving the money? Thanks a lot for this video.

Can you see your remaining AUD balance whilst spending on hotels, rental cars, restaurants etc whilst travelling in Ireland using a WISE card? The WISE card seems to mirror how the ING DIRECT Orange Everyday card I've used in the UK a few years ago. Has anyone out there had any problems using their Aussie ING DIRECT Orange Everyday card travelling through Europe lately?
