Right after you posted your last video, I contacted someone at Ancestry and told them to watch your last two videos. I really enjoy all of your videos and I have learned a lot.

Larry always good to hear that lovely voice. Nice fix. But here is the thing, for me Ancestry has 2 strikes. Algorithms that eliminates most of my Jewish cousins and others and no chromosome browser. They do however still have the best tree. Only reason I work on the site. Never do dna match work there at all. If you could get one of those fixed you would enter the hall of fame 😁

Thanks for this video. The auto scroll didn't bug us as much as we probably don't research in the same way.

Very happy to see they fixed the bug. I did get booted back to the main DNA page this morning, but I don't remember what I did to trigger that.

Yay at keeping the auto scroll loaded! My dad's ancestors had A LOT of decendants (he has >3000 close matches) so it was such a pain when it needed to load 3 times, every time, just to try to do the Leeds method.

As for the error going back to the home page, it doesn't JUST take you to that page, it takes you to whatever page you were on before going to your match list. It's taken me to the DNA home page, the main Ancestry home page, my tree, & a number of ThruLines pages, just because that's where I was before I went back to my match list through the drop down. I don't know what causes it, but I know it's frustrating when it does it more than once.

Most of my maternal & paternal are switched. Also, there are errors in designating a great-grandmother and great-aunt as the same person.

Hey Larry, I am totally stumped on this one. My 5th Great-grandfather was adopted. I'm trying to find 6th cousins that don't match anyone on my tree, but there's just too many to realistically work with. I have access to my father's DNA tests, but his parents didn't take one, so he can't easily filter between Father's Side and Mother's Side and there's still quite a few 5th Cousins to sort from. My grandfather's generation would be ideal, as that would get us down to 4th cousins, but none of them will take the test. I've tried using ThruLines and comparing common matches with my known cousins who would share the unknown ancestor and then looking for common matches between all of us, but so far I'm coming up empty. I've even done the Y-DNA test over at Family Tree DNA and I have no matches with anyone. Do you have any ideas? Anything I'm missing? Is there any way to export a list of the matches to Excel or something where I can really crunch the data? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Like the part about keeping the session state, but really wish they’d go back to taking you to the part of the match list that you left from, so you don’t need to scroll at all.

The bad thing is that when I look at a match now and want to go back to the same place in my list, it now goes to the top of the list instead of where I left off.

For those techies, the errors you are describing are caused by the number of cursors that are open and that is a database constraint.

PLEASE tell Ancestry to STOP automatically adding images to the profile icon when saving things to the gallery. It is driving me crazy.

Can you tell us what browser you are using? I use Safari exclusively. Does that affect your content?

Thanks! I always concluded I'd done something wrong when stuff turned up in duplicate.
I do have a problem with the current setup: previously I could click on the "tree" of a match who had a private linked tree, and find our matches. No more!
I've flagged lots of those trees, identified them by their clearly defined match cluster- & - now, no
HELP!
How do we get that back

Hey Larry... I noticed on your Common Ancestor people with the View Match button don't have the DNA symbol on the photo area, meaning you aren't connecting the DNA match to your tree. Is there a reason you aren't doing that?
