if you hit it straight on it will transfer all the energy pretty much, but if it goes at an angle then obviously it won't transfer all the energy depending on how thin you hit it. then the cue ball will travel on a tangent.

Hey Bucky, FYI, when naming momentum units, a Kg*m/s is a "Kilogram-meter per second", and plural is "Kilogram-meters per second" with the kilogram always singular, and the meters plural. It's clearer and, honestly, easier to say that way. Besides, kg*(m/s) = (kg*m)/s anyway :)

Sorry im not expert, i could be wrong, but i think you can only add momentum in related velocity axes so no you can't add your vectors like you did with lenght.
