BC couple finds sick, injured poodle thrown in the trash

A little dog nicknamed Oscar has been given a new beginning after he was tossed in a garbage can and left for dead.

Terry Sparrow and his fiancée were out for a Wednesday evening stroll at Pacific Spirit Park in Vancouver, B.C. when they made a disturbing discovery.

Sparrow went to spit out his gum when they saw a toy poodle lying on top of the garbage.

“I couldn’t believe it, just shocked, horrified, just heartbreaking,” he told Global News.

They took the dog, whom they aptly named Oscar, home for a bath and some dinner.

“It couldn’t stand very long, it couldn’t walk, it kept flopping over,” Sparrow said. “You could see it was in some distress and pain.”

Whoever owned that dog is 100% responsible for his broken bones. They likely abused him regularly and clearly didn't want him found, given where they dumped him.

Aww poor little doggie. My husband and I also found a puppy in the trash a 1-2 week old puggle. We were trying to see if we could give him over to SPCA. Surprisingly the one in our area told us that their facility was full, and if we brought him in, they would have to put him down. We didn’t want that since this poor dog was tossed in the trash with an eye infection and a broken nose. We wound up keeping him and fast forward over a year later, he’s happy, safe, and loved here in my home. Super smart puppy lol didn’t take long to potty train him and he loves his toys. We named him Rocky because he’s a fighter who we didn’t think would be alive long. I’m glad this poodle puppy was found and is in a safe home. God bless everyone.

Poor baby. I'm glad someone found him. 10 years old might sound old but I have two toy poodles who turned 19 in February, so he has a lot of life left in him! God Bless little Oscar.

Whoever dumped this dog in a tash bin on a wooded trail wasn't anticipating that he would be found alive. What are the odds that anyone would dispose of their gum into a trash recepticle instead of spitting it out - thus saving a dog's life.
