I don't think people realize. You don't overweight companies just because you think those companies are great. You overweight them because you think other people are underestimating them. Company expectations are built into price.

Why is there a need to "rebalance" an index. I thought by definition, its built into the index that the winners are left alone to run. And then if they do poorly, by definition, they will be less concentrated in the index. So there's really no harm in letting them become too concentrated. Am i missing something?
