Thank you very much for all your videos; I am just getting back into welding after 35 yrs. I have been using your videos as a refresher until my machine gets here. Have a great day and keep on making videos please.

I bought the HF125 on sale. Maybe $90. Bought a cheap Hobart helmet, some wire, a pair of gloves and came home ready to fix stuff. Couldn’t see a thing out of the helmet and my “welds” looked HORRIBLE.

Now I have always been one of those guys that was pretty good at anything I ever tried. Not great at anything, but always managed to conquer anything I tried. And I SUCKED at welding! It flat pissed me off. If some Pakistani dude wearing his underwear and welding barefoot in the dirt can do weld, why can’t I? It just stuck in my craw.

Either out of stubbornness or stupidity, I refused to give up. One day I was in HF and I grabbed one of their $150 helmets and tossed it on my head. WOW! What a difference! I could see! With that cheap Hobart helmet I couldn’t see anything, not even a starting point. So I see this guy in line who looks like a welder and I swallowed my pride and approached him. “Hey, are you a welder by any chance?” I asked. He says “I might be.” I ask him to look through the HF helmet. “Is this what I am supposed to see when I look through a welding helmet?” I ask. “Yep” he says. Well shit, I’ve been using a bad helmet the whole time! My current helmet is TOTALLY black all the time. “Yeah, you need this helmet” he says to me.

So I call the wife and say “honey, I NEED this helmet!” (just a tip for you recently married fellas, this is how you stay married for 43 years to one woman). I rush home to try the helmet out and it works great, and while my welds were certainly much better, they still weren’t acceptable to me. Then I watched this video and realized I was running gas wire through the welder, went back to HF and bought gas-less wire, tossed it in and voila! It wasn’t me, it was the equipment!

Many thanks for restoring me back into the HeMan Club!

Man I love this channel. I’ve learned a lot from you already. I can’t wait to try my little welder out. It’s gonna weld almost anything i would ever want to weld. Except maybe tig but I’m not ready to attempt that yet…😂 I really like that welding table you made too. Keep up the good work man. I’m sure several people have benefited greatly from watching your videos. 👍🏼✌🏼

I have the same titanium 125 welder that you have, and I’m trying to teach myself how to weld. Your videos are great and I will use them to teach myself welding basics.

If you get a thickness gauge, make sure you get one for steel and not for non-ferrous metals. 12-gauge steel is 0.1046" and 12-gauge non-ferrous is 0.0808". They look the same but should have which one they are stamped on the side.

Thanks for posting this. I've been trying to weld billets together for patterned steel forging, so I don't care what the weld looks like, just that it holds. So far it's been quite frustrating, but I think I picked up some tips from your video; will try them tomorrow.

Could you do a video on respirators? Or just which you’d recommend?

I just got this welder for father's day. Never welded before. Tried it today. Welds look pretty decent for first time. However I have a ton of spatter. What's causing that, or what can I do different to lessen it?
