In 2003, this engine was placed into one of the most popular rear wheel drive sports cars to leave Japan: the 350Z. This high-revving V6 features forged steel connecting rods, a micro-finished one-piece crankshaft, low friction molybdenum-coated pistons, and a myriad of other enhancements that landed it in Wards top-10 engines list for six years straight. How many times has the VR30 been on Wards top ten best engine list? Not even once. Some say that if The Stig was going to build the perfect race car, he would build it around the VQ35. Seriously, what else would he pick. A silly pushrod V8? Not a chance. So today we're advocating for a return to the Z's roots, with high-revving naturally aspirated engines that produce a sound that can only be rivaled by the talent of a high-school marching band.
