Yamaha ATV Starter Relay Solenoid Installation

This "How To" video will demonstrate the process of installing a new Yamaha starter relay solenoid. This is a quick 5 minute fix for an ATV that will not start. If you hear a clicking noise when starting the starter relay is the most likely culprit.

Exactly the same problem I am having.  Thanks for showing the reason you were replacing the starter relay.  Mine started off doing the same thing.  I'd press the starter button and I never knew if it would start on the first press or the tenth.  It got worse and worse just like yours has done.  I have a Grizzly 700 but the problem is the same.  My relay is in front of the handle bars on the left side of the battery (looking from the seat).  YouTube is great and so are all the people like you who take the time to make these videos.  God Bless you all.

Awesome! Thank you for showing me the removal and installation process! I have the same issue on my Yamaha Bolt R-Spec. I get my new solenoid this Friday. Good Lord willing my baby will be back on the road soon!

Thanks  for the video, this is exactly what my Yamaha 450 Quad is doing. That clicking noise is coming from that area, Thought I had a loose connection on the battery terminal.

i got a grizzly 350 doing the same thing. it clicks when i smash the starter button but does not turn over. i put 3 new solenoids in but all just clicks. what else could it be? thanks. a few years ago i replaced the solenoid and that was the problem? must be yahamas main money maker.

I have a 2008 big bear similar issue, like a vibrating sound from my seat solenoid also?

Not sure if you still reply to comments but I'm having an issue with the same exact model atv. It has a brand new starter, solenoid, battery, and spark plug. However the solenoids not clicking and it wont even rev at all like do a thicker sound when the old solenoid was in and clicking. Me and my brother have been real stuck on this problem of the engine not even cranking it seems.

was using my winch on/off maybe 15x and blew a fuse next to relay, will check the relay fuses but got another to replace if needed, is that blown fuse likely a short? there's no click, battery is charged, 12.5 reading, hoping to fix the root problem and get it running, too. thanks for anyone's ideas in 2024. it's in a shop off-site, does snow on walks. thx

Whats up with that switch? My 03 6 60 isn't like that. Is that an aftermarket to give you the reverse override? my OEM has none and your reverse override is my start button. Very interesting!

going to replace mine next couple of days..only difference on my 2009 grizzly 450 problem is when you push the electric start you hear nothing at all no click or anything..(brand new battery)

Hi, thank you for the video. I put a starter solenoid in the 2003 but I may have purchased the wrong one? After putting it on it would not start. Tried to jump it and the battery got real hot and smelled like sulfer. Even after turning the key off it was trying to start itself!? No joke. Drained the battery. I'm going to get a new battery but I really think maybe the 30v solenoid maybe the wrong one for a 12v battery? I'll try buying a different solenoid? Any ideas? Help.
